Roughly, 200 million are motorcycle riders in the world today. The number of riders are expected to rise as it is the most reliable means of transportation in third world countries. The number of riders in Africa is very much high as compared to other continents. However, there are no manufacturing companies that deal with the development of motorcycle spares. However, there are need for importation of these commodities from time to time, which are expensive.
Motorbikes are one of the most affordable forms of motorised transport and, for most of the world’s population, they are the most familiar type of motor vehicle. While North America, Europe and Japan are car-centric cultures where motorcycles are uncommon, the non-car-centric cultures of India, China and Southeast Asia account for more than half of the world’s population, and in those places two-wheelers outnumber four wheeled vehicles.
About 200 million motorcycles, including mopeds, motor scoters and motorised bikes, and other powered two and three-wheelers, are in use worldwide, or about 33 motorcycles per 1000 people. By comparison, there are about 1 billion cars in the world, or about 141 per 1000 people, with about one third in service in Japan and the United States

The four largest motorcycle markets in the world are all in Asia: China, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam. India, with an estimated 37 million motorcycles/mopeds, was home to the largest number of motorised two wheelers in the world. China came a close second with 34 million motorcycles/mopeds in 2002. As the middle class in India, China, and other developing countries grows, they are repeating the transition from motorcycles to cars that took place in the US in the years after World War I, and in Europe following World War II, and the role of motorcycling is changing from a transport necessity to a leisure activity, and the motorcycle is changing from a family’s primary motor vehicle to a second or third vehicle. The motorcycle is also popular in Brazil’s frontier towns.
Name of the Venture
Brim Auto spare is the name of the venture that has to deal with the production and marketing of the motorcycle spare parts. The company will be the first in the Sub-Saharan Africa to develop the spare parts. Through this production, the cost of importation will reduce. This is because the taxation that is levied on these products will have reduced. Thereby, more riders will benefit from this venture.
The Product
The product that will be developed by the company is motor cycle spares. The spares will be developed remotely from the various companies. The aspect of remote production is to ensure that everyone gets access to the commodities easily. Also, the cost of production reduces as more commodities will be produced to serve the needs of the consumers.
Headquarters
The headquarters of the company will be in Johannesburg, South Africa. This location is suitable because there are other companies that are in operational. Also, it is easier to acquire raw materials in this country because of its proximity to the ocean. Apart from the headquarters there will be other satellite industries across Africa to ensure the reliability of products to the consumers.

Brick-and-mortar businesses have found it difficult to compete with mostly web-based businesses like Amazon.com Inc.because the latter usually have lower operating costs and greater flexibility.
Many consumers still prefer to shop and browse in a physical store. In brick-and-mortar stores, consumers can speak with employees and ask questions about the products or services. Brick-and-mortar stores have the ability to offer experience shopping whereby consumers can test a product such as a video game or laptop at Best Buy or have lunch in Nordstrom’s cafe while shopping at the store. Brick-and-mortar businesses also provide consumers with instant gratification when a purchase is made.
Some consumers are wary of using credit cards or other forms of payment online. These customers often associate legitimacy with a brick-and-mortar business, as a physical presence can foster a perception of trust. However, there can be disadvantages for corporations that run brick-and-mortar stores including the costs associated with leasing the building, employees to conduct transactions, and utility expenses such as electricity, heat, and water.
Intended Customers
The intended customers are motorcycle riders in Africa. Most Africans rely on motorcycles as the ideal way of moving from one place to another. Thereby, more than 100,000 motorcycles exist in these countries. There is need for frequent repairs because of the wear and tear that these motorists incur. Thereby, with the industries the repair of their motorcycles will be easier as they will have tools readily available.
Location of Customers
The company is relying on motorcycle riders across Africa. These individuals rely on importation for them to gather the spare parts that they are using on their motorcycles. Thus the prices of the spares is usually high as compared to other nations that have industries. Through these industries the prices of the commodities is expected to drop from the initial prices that have been quoted.
Marketing Strategy
The idea is an economic strategy adapting to Africa. In the future motorcycles are set to be the Number one transport in Africa. In most cities ”public” transportation is inaccessible and even non-existent. Our target market is people in places including Lagos, Nigeria, Luanda, Angola, Bamako, Mali, and other urban areas where public transportation is not accessible to the locals. Customer approval and trust is most important and because of that, the company will be transparent when it comes to pricing, supply chain and and a large variety of products. Most clients prefer operating with licensed operators.
A typical corporate structure consists of various departments that contribute to the company’s overall mission and goals. Common departments include marketing, marketing, marketing, finance, operations, IT and Human Resource. These five divisions represent the major departments within a publicly traded company, though there are often smaller departments within autonomous firms. Many businesses have a CEO and Board of Directors, usually composed of the directors of each department, potentially with the addition of one or more non exective directors There are also company presidents, vice presidents, and CFOs. However, there is a great diversity in corporate forms, as enterprises range from single company to multi-corporate conglomerate. The four main corporate structures are functional, Divisional, Geographic, and the matrix.
Role’s as a Manager
Executive manager’s are responsible for overseeing the operations and activities of a department. They are responsible for ensuring that their department is operating without any issues.
A few of the main duties of an executive manager are:

– giving constructive feedback to employees
– collaborating with other departments
They also have to report the department’s progress to upper management. Some of the jobs titles that an executive manager could grow into are Supervisor, President, and potentially become Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Policy making
Effective execution of policy is necessary to fulfill the other 2 roles. Policies define focus and differentiate responsibilities among the board, the management, and the medical staff. Well-written policies lead to more efficient board functioning. Instead of having the same matter or very similar matters on the agenda repeatedly, the board can develop a policy that covers the issue and leave implementation of the policy to management. Boards have approximately 24 hours together each year, spread over regular meetings. It is essential to use that time wisely.
At the same time, board-level policies should be reviewed regularly. At Baylor Medical Center at Irving, where I chair the board of trustees, we asked a staff member to review past board minutes and extract all policies. We then refined and consolidated them. The board now reviews policies annually to see if they are still needed.
Decision making
Decision making involves making choices about the organization’s vision, mission, and strategies. Boards make decisions about issues that are strategic and significant, such as whether to enter an affiliation agreement with another organization. As decision makers, boards can also delegate nongovernance types of decisions to others—and would be wise to do so.
Oversight
Oversight is an important function, but boards must remember that the organization is theirs to oversee, not to manage. Some boards cross the line and try to involve themselves in management. Nevertheless, in the oversight role, the board is legally responsible for everything that happens within the hospital, whether in the emergency department, a clinic, or a nursing unit. In the area of quality, for example, the board’s oversight role may include setting the tone by stating that the organization is committed to quality; establishing policies related to quality, such as credentialing; ensuring that mechanisms are in place, such as committees, to establish a plan for quality; and monitoring implementation of the plan.
Board committees play an important role in the governance process. It is useful to periodically review the structure and functions of the committees and to ensure that everyone knows what to expect from them.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF BOARDS
Boards have numerous responsibilities: they oversee management, finances, and quality; set strategic direction; build community relationships; establish ethical standards, values, and compliance; and select a CEO and monitor his or her progress. I believe that the 2 most important tasks are selecting the CEO and establishing the direction of an organization. Although the management team develops the strategic plan, it is the board’s responsibility to accept or modify the strategic plan and to set the direction. The board considers elements in the environment—such as growing competition and changing patterns of care—and develops a vision, a mission, strategic thrusts, goals, and tactics that respond to the environment, all the while showing the organization’s values.
Financial oversight is a familiar job that boards usually do well. Boards ensure the use of financial controls; ensure that funds are prudently invested, considering cash management, banking, and contracting parameters; and establish policies related to budgets. Their goal is to protect the community’s assets. Oversight of the quality area often involves utilization and risk management in addition to continuous quality improvement.
Attention to community relationships is a responsibility unique to not-for-profit institutions. Inasmuch as board members have contact with the community, they can be sensitive to the expectations and needs of its citizens and bring that knowledge to the board room. The focus is on all those the organization serves: consumers, businesses, elected representatives, payers, and collaborators. Boards are paying more attention to the quality of life in their communities. At Baylor Medical Center at Irving, for example, the board has adopted a community action plan developed by the management team.
The ethical standards of the organization are determined by the behavior of the board. Through its ongoing actions, the board decides what behavior will and will not be tolerated. These actions supersede ethical statements—however important such statements are-in showing an organization’s true values. In recent years, compliance issues have risen to board-level responsibility as well, particularly as the media have reported people being sent to jail and organizations and individuals being fined millions of dollars for breaches in government regulations. Compliance is probably the only new issue that has been added to board responsibilities over the past 10 years.
