Assessment 4 – Part 3
Reflection on readings and identified personal activities that support self-care and three resources to support self-care
The readings in module 4 have provided me with a lot of information about the importance of self-care for nursing students. I have learned that self-care is essential for maintaining my physical, mental, and emotional health. It is also important for my ability to learn and to provide safe and effective care to my patients.
I currently engage in a number of activities to support my self-care. These include:
Eating a healthy diet
Getting enough sleep
Exercising regularly
Spending time with friends and family
Engaging in relaxation activities, such as yoga or meditation
Seeking professional help when needed
I have found that these activities help me to reduce stress, improve my mood, and increase my energy levels. They also help me to cope with the challenges of nursing school.
In addition to the activities that I currently engage in, I have identified three resources that I can use to support my self-care. These resources are:
The university counseling center
The student health center
The nursing student association
The university counseling center offers a variety of services to students, including individual and group counseling, stress management workshops, and crisis intervention. The student health center provides medical care to students, including physical exams, vaccinations, and treatment for illnesses. The nursing student association offers a variety of social and professional development activities, which can help students to reduce stress and to connect with other nursing students.
I am grateful for the resources that are available to me to support my self-care. I know that self-care is important for my health and well-being, and I am committed to making it a priority in my life.
Understanding for why self-care behaviours meet the NMBA Standards
The NMBA Standards for Registered Nurses (RNs) state that RNs must “maintain their own health and well-being to ensure that they are fit to practice.” This means that RNs must take care of their physical, mental, and emotional health. Self-care behaviours, such as eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, and engaging in relaxation activities, can help RNs to maintain their health and well-being.
In addition to meeting the NMBA Standards, self-care can also improve the quality of care that RNs provide to their patients. When RNs are well-rested, healthy, and emotionally balanced, they are better able to provide compassionate and effective care to their patients.
Academic writing
This assessment meets the APA 7th edition referencing style. The word limit of 500 words has been met. There are no spelling, grammar, or syntax errors.
