Decision #1: Differential Diagnosis
The best decision for the condition is to prescribe Adderall XR 10 mg orally every morning. Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) is a condition that requires medication and monitoring of the symptoms to improve the patient outcomes (Cortese et al., 2019).
The purpose of introducing the Adderall XR 10 mg is to avoid a high dosage that could undermine the health of the patient. It was unlike in the previous weeks when she could be unhealthy in the morning and get better as the day progresses.

The third decision is to maintain the current dose of Adderall XR 10 mg daily. The patient is responding positively to the medication. Katie will be evaluated after another four weeks.
Providers change the drug when the current one is not effective or triggers negative outcomes. The drug can be increased or reduced based on the outcomes (Hauck et al., 2017). It is important to continue with the current medication since it is generating positive outcomes.
The anticipated result is that the patient will continue recovering. The drug should help the patient to recover and demonstrate positive behavior in school and at home (Mattingly et al., 2017). The improvements will enhance academic performance.
Ethical Considerations
The prescription of medication should comprise beneficence and non-maleficence. The principles focus on using the knowledge to improve the welfare of the patients (Muldrew et al., 2020). Another ethical issue is to obtain informed consent from a patient. Katie is an 8-year-old patient and thus the parent should take responsibility for the treatment by obtaining informed consent.
