In the realm of marketing, a successful branding strategy is one of the most important contributors to organizational success. A solid branding strategy can help add visibility and credibility to a company’s products. Examples are improvement strategies for professionalism and effective professional development strategies.
Similarly, nurse-scholars can build a personal brand for development of visibility and credibility to their work. You can begin building your brand by developing and maintaining a portfolio. Such an activity can help share the results of your efforts and contribute to your success. This week’s Discussion asks you to consider and share graduate study strategies for building your portfolio.

Two strategies for including academic activities and accomplishments into your professional development goals are:
Attending conferences: Attending conferences is a great way to gain knowledge, network with colleagues, and present your research. By attending conferences, you can learn about the latest advancements and trends in nursing education and contribute to the field. Moreover, presenting your research at a conference can enhance your credibility and visibility, which can be added to your portfolio. For example, attending the National League for Nursing Education Summit provides opportunities for networking, professional development, and learning about new teaching strategies in nursing education (NLN, n.d.).
Publishing scholarly articles: Publishing scholarly articles in peer-reviewed journals can showcase your expertise and contribution to the nursing education field. By publishing articles, you can demonstrate your knowledge, research skills, and critical thinking. Moreover, publishing can lead to collaboration opportunities and invitations to speak at conferences. For example, publishing in the Journal of Nursing Education, which is a leading journal in nursing education, can enhance your visibility and recognition in the field (Sage, n.d.).
These goals align with the University’s emphasis on social change as nursing education is an essential component of healthcare. By attending conferences and publishing articles, nurse-scholars can share their expertise and contribute to improving healthcare education and ultimately, patient care. Furthermore, sharing knowledge and collaborating with colleagues can lead to innovations and advancements in the nursing education field, which can have a positive impact on society.
